As seen in a sample from case study data below, Thermalguard flatlines Delta-Ts between attics and living spaces, (and or) suspended ceilings and works spaces.
The Challenge: The homeowners were unsatisfied with the performance of the batt insulation in their home, increasingly high energy bills, and several hot spots that would not cool off despite the HVAC constantly running.
The Solution: For this 2,200 sq ft of 78° Thermalguard was installed on top of the existing batt insulation in the attic space. With three installers, Thermalguard was fully installed in 1 hour and 45 minutes. Data was collected from May-September, using wifi-enabled thermostats that recorded temperatures every minute off the the minute 24/7. Energy statements and HVAC reunites from the previous year were also synthesized into the data sets.
The Results: While temperatures rose to as high as 124°F above the Thermalguard layer, temperatures directly beneath the Thermalguard layer stayed between 73°F and 75°F. With the DELTA-T narrowed to 1°F between The attic and the conditioned living space, the homeowners were able to shift the load on their HVAC runtime from 12:00pm-8:00pm, to 6:00pm-9:00pm. Not only did this shift result in massive energy savings, but it also created an immediate improvement in comfort levels throughout the course of the day.
